Course Description

This course will introduce the fundamental concepts of application design and
development. Students will learn the basic programming skills, program design,
program development (including data structures), problem solving, and event driven
programming. It will include the use of logical and physical structures for both
programs and data and provide hands-on experience in designing and developing
programs and interfaces.

Course Objectives
  • To explain why knowledge of information systems is important for business professionals and identify areas of information systems knowledge they need.
  • To identify challenges that a business manager might face in managing the successful and ethical development and use of information technology in a business.
  • To provide examples of the components of real world information systems. Illustrate that in an information system, people use hardware, software, data, and networks as resources to perform input, processing, output, storage, and control activities that transform data resources into information products.
  • To gain practical experience in using software packages such as: Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, and SQL Server.
